DARTBALL RATING SYSTEM AFTER GAMES OF 3/10/2010

For years, I've always thought an individual dartball rating system would be interesting.  Much like NFL Quarterbacks, we'd take various pieces of data and put them into a system that calculates each individuals overall dartball rating.  I've developed a system by averaging a players individual statistics against a high standard of: 1) Hitting .650 on the single, 2) Hitting .550 on the triple, 3) Hitting .600 overall, 4) A Slugging Percentage of .1000, and 5) Averaging 1 RBI for each 2.5 at bats.

With this standard in place, here are the top 10 hitters and their ratings:

LEAGUE MORNS PASSING OF ED FORTMANN

We will all miss Ed, his sense of humor and dartball comraidere.  Ed was not only our league secretary, but also a true friend of dartball.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.  May these words from John 11:25 comfort all of us; "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

Ed's obituary from the Watertown Daily Times:

Edwin W. Fortmann, 63, of Watertown, died on Wednesday, July 1, at UW Hospital in Madison.

Funeral services were on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Visitation was on Sunday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Pederson's Funeral Home in Watertown and on Monday after 10 a.m. until the service at the church. Burial was at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sugar Island.

Edwin was born on July 14, 1945, in Ixonia, the son of Edwin and Ruth (Nass) Fortmann. He married Sandra Borchardt on Oct. 12, 1968, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

Edwin was a service technician for Tri-County Dairy in Watertown for many years. Currently he was employed at Ace Hardware in Watertown. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Army from 1965 to 1967. Edwin was a graduate of Watertown High School class of 1963 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, member of the American Legion Post No. 189 and a member of the St. Mark's dartball team. He enjoyed bowling, dartball, horseshoes, sheepshead and was an avid Badger athletics fan. Edwin was also a lifelong member of the Plattdeutscher.

Survivors include three children, Jeffrey (Heather) Fortmann of Watertown, Timothy (Brian) Fortmann of Milwaukee, Holly (Ehren) Plew of Valparaiso, Ind.; longtime loving companion, Mary Kruesel of Watertown; one brother, Robert (Linda) Fortmann of Watertown; three sisters, Marliene (Dave) Whitney of Sullivan, Elaine (Bill) Koeppler of Watertown, Lillian Hanke of Watertown; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and beloved pets, Rex, Max and Bullet.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, on Oct. 17, 2002; and his parents.
